Published by codedhit :: Following the shooting of Lekki protesters in Lagos, the Chief Of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has met with top army commanders. This comes after increased insecurity, shooting and looting in the country. According to Punch, Buratai is presently holding a meeting with Principal Staff Officers and top army commanders on the security situation in the country. The meeting which is being held at the Army Headquarters in Abuja commenced at about 10.20am. In attendance were the General Officers Commanding of all the divisions of the Nigerian Army, commanders of the various army operations, unit commanders, commander, Guards Brigade, and other top officers. The parley is against the backdrop of the violence and vandalism in parts of the country. According to the sellers, they purchased the truck seven months after Big’s death in Los Angeles in March 1997 from a broker. The ride has been refurbished, and it wasn’t until eight years later that they learned exactly what they had been pushing after they were contacted by LAPD detectives about using the truck as evidence. 'We have kept the car now for 20 years and finally decided it was time to sell it,' the owners wrote in a letter to Moments In Time. The Suburban is still in running condition and reportedly only has 114,000 miles on it. 'I have requested the LAPD return the original bullet-riddled door upon closure of the case,' they added. The asking price for the legendary ride is $1.5 million.

In a related development, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on February 9th, arrested one Benjamin Aduli for offences bordering on criminal breach of trust and obtaining by false pretence. Operatives of the EFCC got wind of his nefarious activities through a petition by one of his victims. According to the petitioner, Aduli claimed that he could “help source for a loan facility of $30 million in Dubai” that would be used to finance Fleet farms, a company belonging to the petitioner. Having convinced the potential investor of the “good deal”, he demanded for a contributory fee of $154,146 which he claimed would be remitted to ABA investment LLC in Dubai as “a condition for accessing the loan”. Not sensing any foul play, the petitioner paid the said sum to a Micro Finance Bank on the instruction of Aduli, for onward remittance as promised. A 7-year-old girl, who was declared missing days ago was found dead in a bush in Iree Town, Osun State. The spokesperson of the Osun Sate Police Command, Mrs Folashade Odoro, who confirmed the incident on Wednesday, February 15th, in Osogbo, said the body was discovered near a sawmill by Chief Oluode of Iree and later reported to the police. "Upon receiving the information, police quickly deployed a search party to the scene and the body was discovered with visible matchet cuts" Mrs Odoro said the case is being investigated as a possible murder as police suspected a foul play in the circumstance surrounding the death of the girl. The governor of Ebonyi state, Engr David Umahi has ordered the release of N500,000 to the Mr Chijoke Oraku who was brutalized by soldiers for wearing camouflage in Anambra state and also demanded the dismissal and prosecution of the two soldiers. In a statement released by Ebonyi state Chief Press Secretary, Emma Anya, the governor said that the 21 days punishment given to soldiers was too mild and demanded their immediate dismissal from the force. “I suggest to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.- Gen. Buratai, that those soldiers should be sacked from the army and be prosecuted immediately.” he said.
