…As anger trails NCC directive to telcos to hike tariff Nigerians have reacted angrily to the recent directive by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to telecom operators to increase the tariff for data services, with several of them calling on the National Assembly to intervene in the matter. In reaction to the NCC directive, MTN has started sending out bulk messages to its subscribers alerting them of the planned increase. The text message read:  “Dear customer, please be informed that from 1st Dec, some MTN data tariffs will be increased to reflect the new rates set by the NCC to operators. Thank you.” Sources indicate that the new rate could see subscribers of MTN, GLO, AIRTEL & Etisalat paying as much as N1000 for 500 megabytes instead of the 1 gigabyte, 1.5 gigabytes or 2 gigabytes they currently get, depending on the network. The couples were given the sacrament of matrimony by the Catholic Bishop of Lafia Diocese, Reverend Dr. Mathew Ishaya Audu. The President of Management Science, University of Porth Harcourt, Peter Chibuzor Ofurum who was allegedly killed by police during a student protest has been buried. The protest was organized by students to protest the increase in their school fees. Celebrity phone thief, Seun Egbegbe has gotten into more trouble as the court in Lagos state sent him to Kirikiri prison for stealing iPhones. Nigerian producer turned thief, Seun Egbegbe has been remanded in prison custody by a Lagos State Magistrate Court sitting in Ikeja, yesterday. The judge remanded in Kirikiri Prisons for alleged stealing 10 iPhones from a phone shop in Ikeja area of Lagos before he was caught and mobbed. Seun Egbegbe is the former boyfriend of actress and social media celebrity, Toyin Aimakhu. The police had yesterday arraigned Seun before Magistrate Y. O. Aje-Afunwa, on one count charge of theft.
